Even though aperture cards are an effective way to store, retrieve
and view large format drawings and blueprints, it is not the most
efficient way to store your valuable documents. Aperture cards,
which are microfilm attached to thin cardboard, are susceptible
to bright light and humidity (destroying the photographic image)
as well water damage (damaging the cardboard). The cards can easily
be stored in a warehouse, however keeping the cards in perfect
order, without losing any drawings or misfiling them, is difficult.
In addition, over time, aperture cards have a tendency to become
damaged from use and wear and tear.
By converting your aperture cards to digital files, you can simply
access your computer to find the exact image you need instead
of having to search through boxes and boxes of aperture cards
in order to find that one misfiled blueprint.
